In one sense my Artisan Lamps could be categorized as assemblages as they are in fact assembled from ‘found’ and modified objects (mainly brass and copper) and salvaged timber. However, as functional assemblages I feel that whilst they are sculptural they are not sculptures in the same way as my light catchers and other quirky assemblages. Also some folk have suggested that they want a direct link whereby they can look at least part of the series of Artisan Lamps I have made over time. So I have created this separate portfolio page.
My Artisan Lamps have a distinct industrial look about them. The found objects I use often served a former life: as gas fittings; clocks; gears from gear boxes and lathes; stop cocks; steam and water pressure valves; gas welding equipment; plumbing pipes and pieces.
My lamps are usually fitted with new Edison look lamps and fittings; and all are wired with new lamp cords.
